The AFV Club makes miniature military equipment models set at 1:35th scale. Occasionally there is a different scale for certain models. However, 1:35th is the standard scale.
A large portion of the AFV Club models are of vehicles in current operation. The problem with using current vehicles is that the changes in the real vehicles happen faster than the model being made into a kit. Some of the kits are vehicles used during the Vietnam War and also during World War II. Some are British or German or Australian vehicles.
The AFV Club kit consists of over 300 parts in olive drab plastic; some parts are in clear plastic with eight vinyl tires, and a sheet of etched parts plus vinyl poly caps and a short length of twine for the suspension. The instructions and a sheet of decals are also included. There is some occasional cleanup of parts but those are kept to a minimum. The AFV kits include separate taillights and towing shackles. The taillights have separate clear plastic lenses which can be painted before fitting for a more realistic look.
The AFV Club kits are more detailed than their Chinese competitor Trumpeter Company kits. The AFV kits can also be modified to create a different model fairly easy. In a relatively short period of time the AFV Club has established itself as one of the top plastic kit companies in the world. Purchasers of these kits brag how quickly & easily these models can be assembled.
